LOVE- Non-tearable Paper Objects

 

This project also started with a happy accident. While I was looking for help with the binders for my shredded currency wallet project at the back of my head, I happened to go for a job interview. Casual chat over lunch brought about non-tearable paper into the discussion. I came back home and started internet research to find out more about the material. The more I read about it, the more I found how meaningful it is to use this material. It is currently manufactured by a German company called Texon Vogue (70-year-old) and has properties like- non-tearable, washable, cruelty-free, natural raw material from sustainably managed forests, recyclable, a variety of colors-finish-textures, printable/emboss-able, and machine stitch-able. This excited me and I started making objects out of it- coin purse, wallet, stationary box. I wanted to understand how it is to work with the material, its possibilities for making products and how well it behaves over time when in use. For this exploration, I have focused on the ease of use of the product, ease of carrying, optimal features, raw aesthetics (basic material for both function and aesthetics) and gender neutrality.

Love Wallet stays slim even when all the sections are occupied with cards, receipts and cash (the bulk is read in a wider surface area thus reducing the bulk along the thickness. Also, the same material used in a different form i.e. in woven form, in my opinion, is sufficient as a visual element and creates no need for further visual aesthetics improvements. The notes also stay in a well-maintained condition.

 

Love Stationery Box is a single-compartment and dump-and-go type of box. Over time, we automatically memorize the form of a pen/pencil/other items by their tops. This makes the design of a box as such easy to take a particular stationery out without the hassle of searching it in a bundle type arrangement inside the horizontal counterparts like zipper-pouches, horizontal boxes. Also, the fact that it can stand upright makes it like a penholder and we already know the convenience of taking out and putting in any stationery item a penholder provides.

 

Love Mini Pouch is an easy going and versatile pouch of a small scale. One might choose to use it to keep coins, or paper clips if you do complex origami, earphones, mini mp3 players, AUX cable of audio systems.
